SHAPED BY THE SPIRIT: JUBILEE 2010
 |
Our twenty jubilarians. |
Summer is a time to celebrate! This year, we are privileged to celebrate the
jubilees of 20 of our Sisters. Choosing as their theme, "Shaped by the Spirit,"
we gathered at the Provincial House in Putnam for a day of prayer, liturgy, and
celebration. The words of welcome given by our Provincial, Sr. Norma Bourdon, sum up the meaning of the day:
"To families and friends . . . to all the Daughters of the Holy Spirit, Associates, and Consecrated Seculars who have blessed us with your presence . . . a heartfelt welcome!
If my calculator is correct, the 20 Sisters who are celebrating 50, 60, 65, or 75 years of religious profession today have a cumulative service of 1,265 years to God's people. They have served in the fields of education from grade school through college; in the medical field as nurses in clinics and district nursing; as chaplains in hospitals and nursing homes; in music from private lessons to church choirs, in parish ministry from youth ministry to Renew director. They have served in home and foreign missions. They have served in the kitchen, making it possible for others to serve in the field. They have been administrators from school principals to Provincial Superiors to the General Council in France. And they have been able to do all this because first and foremost they are women of God, women of prayer, women who have dedicated their every action, their very being, to the greater glory of God.

And so, Sisters, we congratulate you today as we celebrate these years of service, but mostly we celebrate who you are as we proclaim: To God Be the Glory!" |
