JOURNEYING  TOGETHER:  AN INTERNATIONAL NOTE

Congregational leaders gather in prayer at an international meeting.

The Council of the Congregation, which takes place once a year, is made up of leaders of the Congregation from the 13 different countries in which our Sisters are present. This year, the Council was held in Maroua, North Cameroon. This was the first Council of the Congregation to be held in Africa. The members of the CC were well received by the Sisters of the Vice-Province of Cameroon, who had spent much time preparing for this international gathering. This year, for the first time, the CC also welcomed four younger Sisters who were associated with them in their reflections.
One of the objectives of the assembly was to look at the work of the Holy Spirit in different countries where Daughters of the Holy Spirit are inserted. The life of the Congregation was viewed from the reality of the present situation in the society and the church respectively.
For us younger Sisters, it was a rich experience. The atmosphere was marked by respect for one another, great solidarity, creativity, mutual sharing, freedom of expression and effective participation. The assembly was another means of training for future responsibility. From the reports, we saw great hope and a strong desire to continue to live as Christ lived. "We believe that the Spirit can forge bonds stronger than any division" (RL) and we wish to remain open to all that the Spirit will bring through our journey together. Amen.
